Back to the future!

My experience with yoga started in my very childhood. I remember that while other children were dreaming to become a doctor or a dancer, I was only wondering how to reach a higher spiritual level. I was about 8 years old when I had a clear intuition about my future: “One day, I will meet a Master, not a common master, but someone with the full powers like Jesus, so that I will be able to reach a higher level in my spiritual evolution”; and then: “I won’t need to seek for this Master, because I will be endowed with the capacity to recognize him/her”.

In the following years, I was so eagerly expecting for something to happen… but, alas, I had to wait many years before this prophecy actualized. Indeed, I was already 22 when I happened to notice a poster of Sahaja Yoga in the street and I went to the advertised public program. At first I was curious and skeptical at the same time: I could not really understand about chakras and Kundalini and the utility of them. But one day, they put a video with Shri Mataji, interviewed by a journalist in a tv program. I was there listening and watching Her with full attention and deep inner silence, when at a certain point I clearly felt in my heart a sweet and lovely feeling and a clear awareness: “She is so pure… She is the Perfect One… She is the Master!” and immediately I felt such a strong emotion in my heart, because finally I could meet the Master I had being waiting for so long, that I could not keep my tears from flowing.

A common idea is that “spirituality” is something we can experience in a church, or in a particular environment, or that can only be a transcendental experience that only few particular people can access. It is not at all like that. On the contrary, spirituality is very real and practical. As our Spirit is in our heart, in every moment our Spirit can pop up in our awareness and give us inspiration and joy. It’s only that our mind is so much bombarded by thousands of thoughts that becomes so difficult to realize those moments. But as those moments come, the more we realize it’s our Spirit giving rise to them, the more our Spirit comes to enlighten our attention.

And finally, as we become completely the Spirit, we can enjoy a permanent state of bliss, that is much better than happiness, because it is absolutely unconditioned. Nothing and nobody can disturb this state of bliss we are in: it’s really the top of the top!!! But first thing we need to do is to start meditating and do it constantly, so that the process of reduction of thoughts is greatly helped. With Sahaja Yoga, meditation is very simple and we do not need a particular degree or physical performance. Just be constant and results will come in no time!

Silvana, your story resonated in my heart because what you describe is something what I myself have experienced. From age 5 or 6, I had the same desire and it was fulfilled when I discovered Sahaja Yoga and met my guru Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. I have no more desires left.
